Cynthia Graham Hurd Memorial Scholarship

Springer Nature is proud to honor the legacy of Cynthia Graham Hurd by awarding a $1,500 travel grant to a librarian that has not had an opportunity to attend the Charleston Library Conference due to lack of institutional funding. To apply, librarians are asked to submit a project or initiative developed at their library to enhance diversity and inclusion. Topics can include diversity in selection of resources, providing services to support the research and learning needs of all segments of the academic community, improving educational outcomes, addressing issues including racial disparities, racial equity, income inequality, gender inequality and more.

JoVE Librarian Travel Award

Congratulations! The three winners of the JoVE Librarian Travel Award are announced at They will present their projects at the Charleston Conference on Wednesday, November 8, at 2:30 pm in the Pinckney Room at the Francis Marion Hotel.

The award is intended to encourage librarians to help advance scientific research by empowering scientists, faculty, and students with the necessary information, tools, and training to achieve research reproducibility. JoVE will award 3 librarians with:

(1) a $1,500 travel grant to the 2017 Charleston Conference
(2) a presenter spot at the Charleston Conference during a concurrent session that will showcase the 3 award recipients’ initiatives. The concurrent session has been accepted by the conference but the exact date, time and location are TBD.
(3) a featured blog in our Librarian Spotlight Series (and possibly other promotional activity…)

The EBSCO Charleston Conference Scholarship will award up to $1,000 to attend the 2017 Charleston Library Conference.
