Applications are now being accepted for the Wiley Librarian Scholarship Award to the 2018 Charleston Library Conference; deadline is September 19, 2018.
The Wiley Network is an online community designed to offer advice, ideas, and collaboration opportunities for researchers, learners, and professionals as they pursue their goals. The Wiley Network includes contributions from industry thought-leaders, professionals, researchers, and educators, and posts contain opinions from those with years of experience and those starting out, as well as helpful hints and updates to help you stay ahead of the changing world.
Recognizing that the voice of the Early Career Librarian is critical to this conversation, Wiley would like to offer two Early Career Librarians with $1,000 travel grants (each) to the 2018 Charleston Library Conference. The Wiley Librarian Scholarship Awards will provide Early Career Librarians with an opportunity to contribute four relevant, engaging blog posts to The Wiley Network in the coming months.
Wiley will be inviting two Early-Career Librarians to attend the 2018 Charleston Conference from November 5-9. A $1,000 travel grant will be provided to each winner.
The Charleston Conference is an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials to discuss issues of importance to them all.
The winner of the Wiley Librarian Scholarship Award will be asked to write four unique blog posts for The Wiley Network. To apply for this award, interested Early-Careers Librarians should submit a PowerPoint presentation containing ideas and topics for each of these four blog posts (not the full post, yet!).
Possible topics can include (but are not limited to):
- Supporting researchers with their coursework, research and publishing efforts
- Technologic advances in the library
- Empowering the use of the library and its resources
- Supporting/collaborating with faculty
The more information you can provide in your submission, the better! We want to make sure we have a comprehensive idea of what you feel is important to share with the community and focus on as an Early-Career Librarian today – think 1-2 PowerPoint slides per blog post. Feel free to include an intro paragraph for each post! Anecdotes from personal experiences related to your topics are encouraged – you can either reference multiple projects or expand on one extensive project throughout all four posts if you choose. You can find contributor guidelines for The Wiley Network here.
Please submit your PowerPoint to Claire O’Neill ([email protected]) by September 19 in order to be considered for the Wiley Librarian Scholarship Award. The winner will be announced by October 1. The winners of this award will be able to attend the Charleston Library Conference using a Wiley-provided $1,000 travel grant and will be featured on The Wiley Network four times over the next couple of months.
We are looking forward to hearing from you and seeing the winners at the 2018 Charleston Conference in November!
